TST proposes agreement, company denies, and postal strike will be judged. Banks insist on zero adjustment

São Paulo – The salary campaigns of bank workers and postal workers continue to run into an inflexible employer stance. On the afternoon of Thursday (27), the vice president of the Superior Labor Court (TST), Minister Luiz Philippe Vieira de Mello Filho, came to present a proposal for an agreement, amid the situation of the Post Strike and the impasse in negotiations. But ECT refused. With that, the agreement will go to trial. In the case of the financial sector, Fenaban insists on not offering an adjustment this year. There is four days until the collective bargaining agreement expires – the base date is September 1st.

It was the second day of a meeting at the TST, in search of an understanding in the face of the postal strike and the uncompromising stance of ECT. The minister proposed to renew the social clauses, something that could be taken to the assemblies – the category has been on strike since the 18th -, but the Post Office did not accept it. The company alleging financial difficulty. Representatives of the employees present at the meeting stated that ECT presented profit information in excess of R $ 600 million in the first seven months of the year.

With the impasse, the collective bargaining agreement will go to trial by the TST. In 2019, the company appealed the judgment of the agreement and obtained a favorable decision in the Federal Supreme Court (STF). “We are going to reinforce the strike,” said the secretary general of Fentect (national workers’ federation), José Rivaldo da Silva.

Permanent Assembly

In another round of negotiations with the National Bank Command, the 12th, Fenaban maintained the position of paying only one allowance this year. There would be an adjustment by INPC only in 2021, but divided into two installments. The sector gave up on paying a lower amount of profit sharing (PLR), keeping the current rule.

Bankers held assemblies across the country tonight. In São Paulo, for example, in a virtual assembly that ended at 9:33 pm, they declared a state of permanent assembly, waiting for a new proposal from the employers’ federation. Banks do not accept to discuss ultraactivity, a principle by which the current clauses remain valid until the agreement is renewed.

São Paulo – Union centrals will return to the streets next Tuesday (3), for an act in São Paulo, in front of the headquarters of the Central Bank, on Avenida Paulista. On the centrals’ agenda is the maintenance of emergency aid in the amount of R $ 600 and the exemption from payroll so that companies can react to the effects of the pandemic and keep jobs. The demonstration is scheduled for 11am.

The issue of R $ 600 emergency aid has been the subject of a campaign by the exchanges since September, when the government issued Provisional Measure (MP) 1,000. The benefit was extended until December, but the Planalto cut the amount in half, to R $ 300. The opposition in the Chamber and the centrals want the MP to enter the agenda, which has been obstructed for a month. This week, the President of the House, Rodrigo Maia (DEM-RJ), said he could include the topic on the agenda.

The maintenance of tax relief for 17 sectors of the economy was vetoed by Jair Bolsonaro. At first, it ends in December. But Congress is mobilizing to overturn the veto. The president of the Senate and Congress, Davi Alcolumbre (DEM-AP), scheduled for next Wednesday (4) a joint session to analyze presidential vetoes and bills.
