São Paulo – In times of distance teaching and social relations, a channel for streaming offers 130 films for those interested in the areas of culture and education. With a focus on sustainability and environmental issues, the Ecofalante organization brings together a collection aimed at those who are going through a turnaround in teaching activity. Video recording, management of groups in networks, meetings more virtual than face-to-face, high risk of contamination in the means of transport, among other “news” from a year ago, are added to the other risks of contagion in case of improper resumption of classroom lessons. And also in the particular environments experienced by each professional.
To use the streaming from Ecofalante Play, users make a registration linked to their educational institution on the platform itself. It is the first step in gaining access to the film catalog and scheduling a session, explains the organization. The collection has Brazilian and foreign films bringing together subjects such as climate emergence, conscious consumption, urban issues, energy, conservation, economy, work and health. The works are selected based on the curatorship of the Mostra Ecofalante de Cinema, which has been taking place since 2012. It is the largest audiovisual festival with a socio-environmental theme in South America.

In 2020, the Ecofalante Exhibition took place, for the first time, completely online. The realization took place in the first week of June, marking the Environment Week, and was covered by RBA. In addition to the titles, debates were held with important names in the audiovisual and socio-environmental areas. The idea was broadened based on the Ecofalante Universidades Program. aimed at taking the content of the exhibitions to the colleges, and continued to grow.
“In the beginning, it was the private schools in the city of São Paulo, who came to us to show films in schools and include them in their curricula. At the same time, teachers and students from Etecs (state technical schools, high schools) also started to attend ”, explains the director of Mostra, Chico Guariba. “We looked for the Paula Souza Center – maintainer of Etecs – and signed a cooperation agreement. This made it possible to take audiovisual content to the classrooms and auditoriums of Etecs and of the São Paulo State Technology Faculties (Fatecs) ”,
Today, Ecofalante has agreements with public universities in São Paulo – the state universities USP, Unicamp and Unesp and the UFABC, Unifesp and UFSCar federations – and holds film sessions followed by debates. At Unicamp, the initiative became the discipline Economy, Society and Environment in Contemporary Audiovisual Production. at the university’s Institute of Economics.
