São Paulo – After a conciliation hearing, the Metalworkers’ Union of Taubaté (SP) and Ford reached a temporary agreement, which provides for a meeting with the company’s global management and maintenance of jobs for the duration of the negotiations. Production should be resumed, partially, next Monday (22). And the meeting with American executives should take place until next Thursday (25).

Representatives of the union and the automaker participated yesterday afternoon (17) in a new virtual hearing promoted by the Regional Labor Court of the 15th Region (TRT-15). The TRT-15 judicial vice president, Judge Francisco Alberto da Motta Peixoto Giordani, led the discussions, which totaled six hours, on the 12th and yesterday.

Maintained employment and wages

Ford had entered into a strike agreement, which provoked protest by union members. The process is suspended until March 5, and in the meantime, the parties must hold at least two weekly meetings, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. “The parties also agreed with the resumption of production at the factory on the 22nd, with wages and benefits ensured to all employees, whether called or not to work, in the course of negotiation”, informs the TRT.

At an assembly held this morning, workers at Ford de Taubaté approved the agreement. According to the union, the company should present “a work schedule and the necessary staff to attend the production of spare parts for the market”. The Vale do Paraíba unit produces engines and gearboxes.

On January 11, the automaker announced the end of its operations in Brazil. This includes, in addition to Taubaté, the factories in Camaçari (BA) and Horizonte (CE, where the Troller utility is produced). The TRT of the 5th Region, in Bahia, scheduled for this morning a new audience between Ford and metalworkers.
