‘Lockdown’ of workers will be held this Wednesday



São Paulo – This Wednesday (24), the union centrals are organizing the so-called lockdown of the workers. The action has as its agenda not only the defense of social isolation, but also the need to close shops and services, emergency measures to contain the pandemic and preserve life. The workers also want a massive distribution of vaccines, the resumption of emergency aid in the minimum amount of R $ 600 and the interruption of the scrapping of public services in the country.

In an interview with TVT, on Monday (22), the vice president of the National Confederation of Workers in the Financial Branch (Contraf-CUT), Vinicius Assumpção Silva, classified the Bolsonaro government’s performance as tragic. “Especially for blacks, the poorest and the inhabitants of the peripheries of large cities.” He explains that the organization has been talking to workers in the financial sector about the urgent need to implement more restrictive circulation measures. “So that the bank employee stays at home. And those who are in the home office work also participate in the acts tomorrow ”, he pointed out.

According to the president of Força Sindical and of the Metalworkers Union of São Paulo, Miguel Torres, the centrals have had conversations with mayors, governors and parliamentarians, since “there is no federal government”. He says that the actions are being coordinated in a coordinated manner. “It is the pressure of society that has driven what is happening in the country. A clear example is the vaccine. ”

Scheduled mobilizations

The CUT has published, on its website, a series of actions planned for the 24th, during the lockdown of the workers. Bank workers will put sound cars on the streets and broadcast them on radios and also posters. The agencies will also be visited. In addition, there will be food collections and social media actions.

The National Confederation of Workers in Commerce and Services (Contracs-CUT) organizes leaflets, in addition to public hearings and actions on social networks. The National Confederation of Transport and Logistics Workers (CNTTL), on the other hand, instructed its members to promote two-hour stoppages during the day. Subway workers will carry out actions at train stations and traffic agents in São Paulo schedule priority inspections at vaccination sites, to help people who are driving by car to get vaccinated.

The National Confederation of Metallurgical Workers of the CUT (CNM-CUT) guided its unions towards virtual mobilization and actions at factory doors, with a sound car and awareness messages. “This date has to serve to guide and call the population to reflect on why this tragedy is happening in Brazil”, defended the president of CUT, Sérgio Nobre.

Argentine President contaminated by covid-19 and fulfills isolation




São Paulo – The president of Argentina, Alberto Fernández, informed on social media that he tested positive for covid-19, after showing symptoms of the disease. He said he is in isolation and has warned people with whom he has had contact in the past 48 hours. And he also reported that he had 37.3ºC of fever, in addition to feeling a slight headache.
