Injunctions prohibit collective dismissal at Ford without negotiating with unions



São Paulo – Labor Courts have granted injunctions preventing Ford from firing without prior negotiation with the metalworkers’ unions. In addition, in the case of Taubaté (SP), the company was prohibited from selling goods and machinery from the factory. These are first instance decisions, so there is an appeal.

The injunctions were obtained by the Public Ministry of Labor. “The two decisions prohibit Ford from practicing collective dismissal of employees from its factories in Camaçari (BA) and Taubaté (SP) without prior collective bargaining, from suspending payment of wages and paid leave while employment contracts are in force, from practicing moral and business harassment, as well as presenting or offering proposals or values ​​individually to workers, ”says MPT.

Social consequences

Factory vigil

In Taubaté, the automaker must keep all its goods and machinery in the municipality. Workers have already been keeping vigil outside the factory, organized by the Metalworkers Union, precisely to avoid withdrawals.

Judge Andréia de Oliveira, from the 2nd Labor Court of Taubaté, says that “mass dismissal and without dialogue with workers, through their unions, does not contribute to improving the social condition of anyone, much less the workers involved ”. Argentina extends border closure with Brazil
