São Paulo – Workers at Ford de Taubaté, in the interior of São Paulo, approved the return to the factory this Wednesday afternoon (17th), to be available for the service. The decision was taken at the assembly in the morning. Activities had been interrupted since January 11, when the company announced the end of operations in Brazil. This includes, in addition to Taubaté, the Camaçari (BA) and Horizonte (CE) units.
“Ford has been trying to harm workers, as it claims that the employees are on strike,” says the Metalworkers Union of Taubaté and region. “The maneuver is not in line with reality, since the stoppage of activities at the Taubaté plant was an action of the automaker itself”, adds the entity.
Coercion and constraint
“Ford plays dirty by blaming workers for stopping production and then coercing and embarrassing”, criticizes Ford union coordinator at Sinvaldo Cruz, because, according to him, there is no strike. “Everyone wants to work. Our commitment is to generate jobs and income. ” Union president Cláudio Batista, Claudião, recalls that Ford kept workers on paid leave and did not want them to enter the factory.
A new conciliation hearing is scheduled for this afternoon between representatives of Ford employees in Taubaté and the company’s management, at the Regional Labor Court of the 15th Region (TRT-15), in Campinas. Tomorrow, at 6:30 am, the metallurgists will meet again in assembly. Also this Thursday, in the morning, there will be an audience at the Bahia TRT.
