Democracy Memorial celebrates the struggle for rights in the country

Published

on

São Paulo – The struggle for rights in the country has a historical reference, which is the virtual museum Memorial da Democracia. This month, the project completes five years. Conceived by a team of journalists, historians, artists and researchers, the memorial is a work in permanent construction. Its objective is to make dynamic content available to all Brazilians about Brazil’s long journey, from the colony to the 21st century, in search of democracy with social justice.

This is what shows a report by Jô Miyagui in Your Newspaper, gives TVT, this Monday (21). “Since the 2016 coup against President Dilma Rousseff, our young democracy has been under constant attack. And all kinds of rights of Brazilians are also attacked ”, says the journalist.

According to professor of political science Francisco Fonseca, these attacks are “a crime against workers”. Among the setbacks, he highlights labor reform, which attacks workers’ rights. It also recalls unrestricted outsourcing, both for middle and end activities in private and state-owned companies. And Constitutional Amendment 95, which freezes social spending on education, health and social security for 20 years. Another setback is in the pension reform, which makes it difficult for workers to retire and makes the pension system in the country even more unfair.

Fight fruit

Yet another attack on democracy is the political activism of the Judiciary, such as the Lava Jato operation. Under the pretext of fighting corruption, Lava Jato has interfered in the direction of national politics. “A large part of the Judiciary has destabilized democracy. There was a lot of talk about the judicialization of politics, but today it is much more than that. It is the politicization of the judiciary, or the partisanship of the judiciary. The Lava Jato operation is the best example. It is a state within the state. It is a protofascist state. What is the figure of Deltan Dallagnol, Sergio Moro ?! They have nothing to do with prosecutors and judges. They are right-wing political activists. ”

Democracy in the country has not fallen from the sky. It was won through struggle, in the midst of persecution, torture, and the blood of workers, political activists and students. “This was the result of the conquest of the Brazilian people, as Darcy Ribeiro said very well, that the best in Brazil is the Brazilian people”, says journalist Franklin Martins.

In order to tell this story, which is of struggle and resistance in Brazil, the Democracy Memorial was created in September 2015. It is a virtual multimedia museum, with texts, photos, videos and audios with information from 1929 to 2010, highlights the journalist, who helped create the memorial. “The idea is to recover the struggle for democracy in the country”.

São Paulo – Union centrals will return to the streets next Tuesday (3), for an act in São Paulo, in front of the headquarters of the Central Bank, on Avenida Paulista. On the centrals’ agenda is the maintenance of emergency aid in the amount of R $ 600 and the exemption from payroll so that companies can react to the effects of the pandemic and keep jobs. The demonstration is scheduled for 11am.

The issue of R $ 600 emergency aid has been the subject of a campaign by the exchanges since September, when the government issued Provisional Measure (MP) 1,000. The benefit was extended until December, but the Planalto cut the amount in half, to R $ 300. The opposition in the Chamber and the centrals want the MP to enter the agenda, which has been obstructed for a month. This week, the President of the House, Rodrigo Maia (DEM-RJ), said he could include the topic on the agenda.

The maintenance of tax relief for 17 sectors of the economy was vetoed by Jair Bolsonaro. At first, it ends in December. But Congress is mobilizing to overturn the veto. The president of the Senate and Congress, Davi Alcolumbre (DEM-AP), scheduled for next Wednesday (4) a joint session to analyze presidential vetoes and bills.
