After 51 deaths back to school, Doria announces vaccination against covid-19 for teachers

São Paulo – After numerous protests by workers
education, thousands of cases and 51 deaths caused by the new coronavirus in
back to school, the governor of São Paulo, João Doria (PSDB), announced today (24) the
vaccination against covid-19 for teachers and other education workers

According to the Union of Teachers of Official Education of the State of São Paulo (Apeoesp), 51 education workers died. The campaign will be aimed at teachers, support agents, supervisors, principals, among other education workers, both in public and private networks.

Late vaccination

For the president of Apeoesp and state deputy,
Professor Bebel (PT), the decision of the Doria government to announce the vaccination against
Covid-19 for teachers and other education professionals is a victory for
mobilization of the category, albeit late. Still in December 2020, Bebel requested
inclusion of education professionals. What could have prevented many
deaths.

“If the government had accepted our requests earlier,
we would not have lost those 51 lives that occurred with the return of classes
in person. Now, we’ll look at the entire process and deadlines for immunizing
all professionals, because our commitment to the defense of life continues, ”he said.

Among public security professionals,
civil, military, firefighters and prison officers were vaccinated. Furthermore,
one day the São Paulo government anticipated vaccination for elderly people aged 69, 70 and 71
years, which was scheduled to start on Saturday (27). Thus, vaccination
this age group starts on Friday (26).

The population of this age should seek the Basic Health Unit (UBC) closest to their residence, always carrying ID, SUS card and vaccination card. The São Paulo government also asks that registration on the Vacina Já website be made in advance, to streamline the process at the health unit.

Argentine President contaminated by covid-19 and fulfills isolation

São Paulo – The president of Argentina, Alberto Fernández, informed on social media that he tested positive for covid-19, after showing symptoms of the disease. He said he is in isolation and has warned people with whom he has had contact in the past 48 hours. And he also reported that he had 37.3ºC of fever, in addition to feeling a slight headache.

The announcement was made this Saturday (3), the day after Fernández turned 62. “For everyone’s information, I am physically well and, although I wanted to end my birthday without this news, I am also in a good mood,” said the president.
